Blog 7: Fernando Castillo Velasco, A Expert of Architecture
Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to Hideout of Bastian and let me introduce to my favourite Architecure.
His most acclaimed work is the Neighborhood Unit Villa Portales. Designed in conjunction with the Architectural Studio BVCH (Bresciani, Valdés, Castillo, Huidobro). This complex was a revolution in Chile, never had been built so ambitiously for the middle class and ended up being a good example of Modern Architecture in Latin America.
During his first mandate in La Reina (in the 60's) he worked with the villagers making from scratch the houses of all the neighbours, they all worked together. And that is something I admire, that of being humble and understanding that we are all equal, as well as working side by side with the same people, without a doubt one of the best architects who could have lived in this long country.
