Blog 4: Music
Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to Hideout of Bastian and let me introduce to my favourite (Boomer) Music
Maybe if you asked the Bastian from 13 to 16, he'd answer Queen, because it was the only thing I heard. But one day in a record store, the salesman convinced me that variety is in the taste and from that moment on I try to discover music daily.
Maybe if you asked the Bastian from 13 to 16, he'd answer Queen, because it was the only thing I heard. But one day in a record store, the salesman convinced me that variety is in the taste and from that moment on I try to discover music daily.
As I was already handling Rock, I looked for different bands and fell in love with Pink Floyd and found the world of Progressive Rock.
And answering the question, I really like Progressive Rock because it takes its time to generate such an exquisite musical atmosphere, which makes me feel in another world, there are also other songs that are quite lively and with a very crazy rhythm!
I'm spreading out a lot, so, here are about 7 Artists/Bands (This is a not a top) that I enjoy listening to a lot.
- David Bowie, Golden Years from Station To Station (1976)
In David Bowie's Great Multiverse Musical, a new character arrives. The Great Thin White Duke. From this wonderful album I get the catchy Golden Years, A Song Loaded with Funk and Soul.
- Frank Zappa, Cletus Awreetus Awrightus from The Grand Wazoo (1972)
From Frank's most jazzy time, comes this very good album and that specific song reminds me of 31 minutos for no reason.
- King Crimson, Elephant Talk from Discipline (1981)
Zappa and Bowie have only one person in common, crazy guitarist Adrian Belew. In the new 80's version of King Crimson, comes this perfect album in which Progressive Rock is reinvented.
A new musical jewel to the King's Crown.
- Pink Floyd, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (I-IX parts) from Wish You Were Here (1975)
From the golden years of the Pink Floyd Boys comes this beautiful tribute to former bandleader Syd Barrett. And no doubt that the Introspective Suite of Shine On You Crazy Diamond is the best of this album.
- Los Jaivas, Un Rio de Sangre from Obras de Violeta Parra (1984)
From the ''Pink Floyd Chileans'', comes this great tribute to one of the best artists who lived in Chile, Violeta Parra. For this song Violeta's daughter (Isabel Parra) participated. As a curiosity, in the services of Streaming (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) the name of this song is El Gavilán and the song El Gavilán is called Un Rio de Sangre.
- Genesis, Firth of Fifth from Selling England by the Pound (1973)
If you look up the word perfection in the dictionary, you will find this Jewel of Progressive Rock. It's about 53 minutes of pure beauty. It's really hard to choose one of the songs on this album, so I'm very remorseful about the Firth of Fifth Suite. Tony Banks' Piano starts off masterfully, Peter Gabriel's voice is at its best, Mike Rutherford's bass is Sublime, Phil Collins' Drums are at another level, but without a doubt the one who gets all the praise is Steve Hackett with his spectacular Guitar solo. Excuse me if I went on too long at this point, it's just that this album is really good.
- Queen, A Winter´s Tale from Made in Heaven (1995)
Obviously I can't leave out one of my favorite bands. This was the last song that Freddie arranged and composed, it's really emotional. With one of Brian May's best guitar solos. The best goodbye from a legendary band.
Welly, welly, welly well, I spent a lot of time talking about this, is that if there is a topic that could talk for hours and hours is about how wonderful music is.

Cool, I like that music too!
